SCHOLARSHIPS

The scholarships listed below are ones that high schools usually receive notification about. áUse the following lists to get a head start on your scholarship search. áScholarships may appear several times as they may fit a number of different categories.á If there isn't a website listed, plan on checking with Mrs. Fruh for more details. áThis is a work in progress so the current information is what applied to this year's cycle for the Class of 2016. áBe sure to check with the websites for an updated deadline date and note those that are a "received by" deadline! áScholarships highlighted in yellow are either currently suspended (and may be reinstituted for the coming year) or the scholarship information has not been confirmed with a local contact. áRemember, the smaller the pool of applicants, the better your chances are for being awarded the scholarship so locally based scholarships are ones you definitely want to seek out, even if the amount isn't huge!
In addition to these lists, check out the following link to search the entire list that includes a few scholarships that are basically open to all seniors (highlighted in green!): If you're interested in researching more scholarship opportunities, don't overlook the colleges you're interested in. áNot all colleges and universities offer athletic or merit scholarships, but a lot do and they are the 2nd largest resource of funds (1st is the Federal Government's Financial Aid program) when it comes to paying for college!! áOne unique opportunity is offered by the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) which gives students the opportunity to attend an out-of-state university and pay 150% of the in-state tuition instead of the much higher out-of-state amount. áTo explore which universities participate and what their requirements are, visit the WUEáwebsite. áHere are some useful websites to continue your search: And once you find potential scholarship opportunities, here are two links to help you submit the most outstanding applications possible! Avoid Scholarship Scams!
Be an informed consumer and maintain a healthy degree of skepticism if the offer of scholarship money seems too good (or too easy) to win. áFor tips on how to spot a scam, visit the FTC scholarship scams web page.

In addition to scholarships that are typically targeting high school seniors, the following databases list essay contests, etc. that are available to grades 9 -11:

9th grade Essay Contests & Scholarships

10th grade Essay Contests & Scholarships
