The Colorado Department of Education announced today that Thomas MacLaren School's Class of 2017 scored the highest composite score ever in the state of Colorado - 29.8! We couldn't be more proud! Congratulations to our seniors and many thanks to the faculty and parents who have taught and supported them during these last six years at MacLaren. We look forward to a great senior year with these young men and women.
Following close behind the seniors, the current junior class also has news to be proud of. CDE announced today the PSAT overall mean scores and the Class of 2018 had the 3rd highest scores in the state. Way to go, Juniors! We are confident you will perform well on the SAT in the spring.
Today, 450 students and 54 faculty and staff gathered in the Student Center to begin Orientation for the 2016-17 school year. The room was a buzz as returning students were catching up with one another, faculty was taking attendance and new 6th graders and transfer students were finding their seats, trying to calm the jitters on this first day at a new school. Mrs. Hall welcomed everyone and had each class stand and be recognized by the MacLaren community. She introduced the†new faculty and staff and then acknowledged each returning faculty and staff member, to the very appreciative applause of the student body. Finally, Mrs. Hall spoke about the unique aspects of life at MacLaren: the pursuit of goodness, truth and beauty, the common curriculum, the clans that bring together older and younger students and create a sense of family amidst the larger student body, the single-gender classes, and the mutual respect that students, faculty and staff have for one another which allows for a vibrant community of learners to flourish.†
Classes begin tomorrow in earnest. We are eager to get started!
